Ryan's mom, Marcia, has been in town visiting for 2 weeks, so we took the opportunity to drive down to the shore and show her around so she can know what we're talking about when we talk about all this wedding stuff going on. On the drive down, I figured we'd take a little detour and stop at the bakery recommended for our cupcakes, but it just so happened that the bakery was the same exit as one of my absolute favorite New Jersey landmarks, Lucy the Elephant! Yes, it's a giant elephant. Believe it or not, there were giant elephants in Cape May, Atlantic City, and Coney Island, but the other 2 washed away or burnt down, and Lucy, the Atlantic City elephant, was saved and restored, and is now a National Landmark.

You can get all the info on Lucy here. And a video from The History Channel's "Weird U.S." here. (The video shows you the inside and a overview of the history).
Ok, after visiting Lucy, we continued onto Linwood, NJ and Bake Works bakery. We wanted to test out a cupcake (or ten) to see if they would be up to the task of supplying cupcakes for the wedding. We've decided on cupcakes over a big wedding cake - more fun, and more personal, as I consider myself a cupcake conneusieur. They'll put a teeny wedding cake on top of the cupcake tower so we have something to cut if we like, but honestly, I'm all for cupcakes all the way. Anyway, let's just say the cupcakes passed with a unanimous YUM. The rest of you will have to wait till the wedding.
